Summer Roots, M.A.
Principal / President
Summer has been with CREC since 2015 and was hired to grow the Residential Valuation Division. After completing all of her Appraisal Trainee curriculum, she proceeded to expand the residential division which resulted in the division representing approximately half of all revenues. In 2021, Summer acquired the company with specific desire in expanding the Commercial and Governmental sectors including that of the Right of Way division.
Summer leads all vision for the firm and daily management and financial responsibility of the organization.
Karyl Cabus
Research Analyst / Document Specialist
Karyl has been with CREC since 2022 serving in the role of Document Specialist and Researcher and most recently taking on marketing management duties.
Karyl specializes in the due diligence and data collection of real property. Whether it is in the form of due diligence reports, appraisals or keeping staff on schedule, Karyl is a dynamic multi-tasker and manager of high volume projects.
Jacob Volbers
Right of Way Appraiser
Jacob, a Certified Residential Appraiser, with more than 4 years experience has been with CREC since 2023.
Jacob adeptly evaluates properties across Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Columbus, Greenwood, and beyond.
His meticulous analyses and market insights enhance valuation accuracy.
Jacob's commitment to excellence underscores his significant contributions to informed real estate valuation.
Erin Laswell
Appraiser in Training
Erin, currently pursuing her appraisal education, joined CREC in 2025. Erin is an experienced Athletic Trainer; she is driven each day to leave people better than she finds them. Whether that’s by a simple smile or using her education to guide them to wellness, no detail is too small for Erin. Professionally, she collaborates in many settings with some of the most outstanding professionals in the world.
We are excited to have Erin join the CREC team as she looks to add to her ongoing profession.
Madeline Roots
Chad Roots, SR/WA, MAI
Appraiser Trainee
Maddie has been with CREC since 2024 and is a Licensed Appraiser Trainee. She has completed all appraisal curriculum and eager to combine her passion of Environmental Science with the world of Right of Way and Public Works projects.
Maddie is recipient of the National Merit Scholarship and attends the University of Alabama with an interest in biology and water sciences.

Chad is a highly distinguished and accomplished real estate professional with nearly 25 years of experience in appraising, appraisal review, project management, and right-of-way (R/W) acquisition. Chad brings unparalleled expertise and a deep understanding of state and local agency requirements, particularly with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) underlying requirements.
